Long ago, I was a modern dancer. Then for a period of 17 years, I didn't dance outside of my own home, but I missed it. I began tap dancing in 2017; after having my second hip joint replacement in 2023, I started regularly attending RDT's Prime Movement class for dancers over 40, offered through their Dance Center on Broadway. My passion for dance has returned in full force.
It is rare for dancers over 40 to find classes appropriate for us, or especially creative process and performance opportunities. In the past year, I have found all of those things through RDT. In addition to Prime Movement class, I choreographed and performed in the Prime Perspectives project in spring and summer 2024, and I danced in RDT's Emerge in January 2025.
I am thrilled to be part of the Regalia event, and to choreograph on professional and advanced dancers. Not only does RDT benefit me personally, but also many other dancers of all ages as well as professionals and members of the general community. RDT is an arts organization fully involved in serving the community. I hope you will join me in supporting their work.
RDT is honored to have these brave souls taking on the mantle of CHOREOGRAPHER for RDT’s REGALIA: So you think you can choreograph! Not only are they choreographing for a professional company (for the first time), but they are also raising funds to make a difference in our community.
They each need to raise $2000 in order to compete in this fun and inspiring event. All funds raised through this page help to further RDT’s mission of building community through the creation, preservation, performance, and perpetuation of modern dance. Including arts-in-education programming that reaches over 50,000 students and teachers in Utah every year. All donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
They will each be working with a designated RDT mentor to help bring their creative vision to life.
