Join the Huntington Historical Society on Saturday, October 25th in the Conklin Barn for My Weeping Friends Remember Me: A Victorian Wake. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about funeral custom traditions of the past, view a selection of funerary items from our museum collections, and sample traditional mourning refreshments. Among many other interesting topics, we will discuss: the significance of hair jewelry, cemeteries and gravestone symbolism, and Victorian mourning practices after the death of a loved one.
