Dental (DDS/OMFS/RDH/DA)
- Volunteer dentists and oral surgeons help us by providing x-rays, restorations, and extraction services to patients. Love Heals Free Clinics provides and sets up all the equipment needed to conduct these services, including portable x-rays, portable ADEC units, instruments, composite and other consumables.
- Patients who require specialized treatment (ex. root canals) can be referred by the dentist to a local clinic, or else Love Heals staff will provide the patient with information about where to find free or low-cost care in the local community. After treatment, dentists can prescribe acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or amoxicillin - our volunteer pharmacists will fill those prescriptions on-site, at no cost to the patient.
- Volunteer dental assistants provide chairside support, and manage the Sterilization, Central Supply, Triage, and Dental Support areas.
- Volunteer dental hygienists provide cleaning treatments and oral hygiene education to patients.
We recommend dental providers bring prescription pads, and their own loupes and chargers to each clinic - we do have headlamps available if needed. We provide all PPE, but if providers have a preferred pair of safety glasses or headwear, please feel free to bring those as well!
A volunteer orientation will be held on Thursday, October 1st at 6:30PM - this is a time for volunteers to review the clinic setup, familiarize themselves with the equipment, and ask any questions needed prior to the clinic.
Volunteers are asked to work from 8:00AM - 4:00PM with a break for lunch. Patients will be ready for treatment by 8:00AM, and services will stop by 4:00PM.
For additional questions about equipment, clinic operations, or general information, please email the Love Heals Clinic Operations Manager at maureen@lovehealsfreeclinic.org.
If you are a dental assistant or hygiene student, please go back and register under "All Clinical Students" - thank you!
